Jarvis Rockwell in his shop

C ornelius Holgate started his woodworking shop in

Philadelphia in 1789, the year of George Washington's inauguration.   Years later, the Holgate family moved the company to northwestern Pennsylvania for the abundant hardwood forests.

In 1929, Holgate was one of the early innovators in the educational preschool market, working closely with educators in the new Kindergarten programs.  Many of Holgate's most popular toys were designed in those years by Jarvis Rockwell, brother of famous illustrator Norman Rockwell.  Jarvis Rockwell's concern for safety, durability, and play value earned him recognition as one of America's leading toy designers.
Consistently chosen by leading childhood authorities for
safe, educational toys
*All Holgate products are guaranteed for life against defects in materials and workmanship in normal use. What's not normal use? Driving nails into the toys will split them; they will break if a car runs over them; the finish will fade and they may crack if left outdoors for a long time; they will probably break if you drop them out a window onto pavement; etc., etc.   Defective items will be repaired or replaced free of charge.
