The Cosmic Flyer is ideal for the Novice RC pilot. It has a
very simple, 2-function control system: Throttle on/off and rudder control. The
Cosmic Flyer is also plenty tough enough to withstand the crash-landings
that are an expected part of learning to fly. The rear-facing prop is
protected from head-on crashes (although it will break), and the wing is
held on with rubber bands and breakaway pins, so that the wing comes off
rather than breaking when it hits something (like a tree).
The Cosmic Flyer is also a fast, exciting, highly
maneuverable aircraft for the more experience RC Flyer, with 25 mph
airspeed.

** BEFORE YOU BUY ** Please read the following...
Turnertoys Flight Central has flight-tested the Cosmic Flyer, as we
do with almost all of our flying toys. It is recommended for beginners, and
children as young as 10 years old. If you
follow our recommended beginner's training process (included with your
purchase, and exclusive to Turnertoys Flight Central), you will be able
to avoid major crashes, and enjoy thrilling extended flights of up to 15
minutes with this airplane.
1. The first-time pilot will need a
large, level, unobstructed area to learn basic control techniques. At 25 mph, the plane covers distance pretty quickly. School
athletic fields of sufficient size (about 5 acres) are ideal for this. Trees, buildings, and
people are all potential hazards until you learn how to control the plane.
2. As a beginner, you will crash the Cosmic Flyer. We
had several major crashes until we figured out how to control it. That's why we
developed a beginner's training protocol, which is included with your
purchase. The airplane is very crash resistant: we hit trees twice (and got
the thing hung up both times), a fence once, and nosed it into the ground a
few times, twice under full power. We chipped the wing a bit once, and fixed
it with a bit of clear packing tape. (The plane still flies as good as new.)
The only thing that actually broke was the propeller. Twice. After about 10
flying sessions, we also needed to replace one of the Wing Hold-down
Tubes and 2 of the Hold-down Rubber Bands. That's why we
strongly recommend that you buy the Complete Cosmic Flyer Package,
which includes these items. Additional replacement parts are
available if you need them.
3. The AC-DC
Peak Detect Charger included in the Complete Cosmic Flyer Package
charges the battery in as little as 45 minutes, and beeps when finished. Since
it can draw power from your car battery, you can charge batteries "in the
field" and keep flying without interruption. It can be used to
charge a variety of batteries in addition to the Cosmic Flyer's 6v power pack.
For this reason the Complete
Cosmic Flyer Package also includes 2 extra 6v power packs.
